ISDEF’s second spring conference, ISDEF Spring 2006, took place on April 29 at the Lesnaya Holiday Inn. The main topic of the forum this year was “Selling and Marketing Software in European Countries”.

Felix Moochnik, Chairman of the ISDEF Board of Directors, opened the conference. The relevance of the issues he touched upon is obvious to all players in the market. These issues include the introduction of favorable taxation for software exports, government support of innovation, and many others. And although – as it was noted – these undertakings have not yet affected the software-product circulation sector, the trend is giving cause for optimism.

Later, conference participants heard a talk by Vitaly Ozhigov, a representative of Microsoft. Mr. Ozhigov described his company’s partnership program, and the opportunities it offers software developers.  The presentation by Alexander Kolosovsky, head of the Paris office of International Legal Counsels PLLC (also known as femida.us), was devoted to legal aspects – nuances of concluding agreements in the Western market. Kaspersky Labs shared its experience of entering the French market with the audience. Representatives of Share*it!, Ayanta, Telechargement.fr, and Avanquest Publishing also gave presentations. The conference was concluded by a round-table with the participation of such companies as Kaspersky Labs, PROMT, StarForce, SmartLine, Famatech and InfoWatch.

Because the main issues discussed at the conference were concerned with the European market, the majority of the presentations were given in the English language. This, however, in no way disturbed the conference participants, who numbered approximately 200.

The following companies provided sponsorship for ISDEF Spring 2006: Avangate, Avanquest, Candeo Technologies, Cleverbridge, DR/element5, Fast Reports, Microsoft, Rudenko Software, SiComponents, International Legal Counsels (aka femida.us), KeepSoft, Softkey and Telechargement.
